onboarding

Thank you for volunteering your time. This guide covers the event context, how to structure your session, and how to prepare your session plan ahead of the hackathon.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

What we're building toward

This workshop series prepares ITHS students for a 4–7 hour hackathon. While students are expected to complete a project — a website, app concept, or interactive digital experience — the greater goal is to expand their understanding of what computer science can offer, regardless of outcome.

What's possible with today's tools and technology

What makes an idea viable

How real products are structured and brought to life

The skills, tools, and people required to build effectively

How to think, prioritize, and execute under constraints

GUIDELINES

A few things to keep in mind

Maintain a practical focus — avoid heavy theory

Slides are optional; the session should work as a standalone presentation. A template will be provided, though you may use your own materials or present without slides.

Use real examples and experiences to support your points
